Pond Work For Great Crested Newts

Do you have a pond in need of restoration?

Then KHWP wants to hear from you!

If you’re in the Tunbridge Wells borough and have an old, overgrown, silted-up or neglected fish-free pond, it could be suitable for restoration through our fully funded Great Crested Newt pond scheme.

We’re helping restore wildlife ponds across the landscape as part of a wider Natural England led District Level Licensing Scheme. The project is creating much-needed breeding habitat for Great Crested Newts, and we’ve already seen fantastic results, with over 50% of surveyed ponds found to be supporting the species!

We’re looking for:

🌿 Overgrown or silted-up wildlife ponds

🟤 Sites with clay or mudstone substrate

🌱 Suitable locations for new ponds of 150m² (10m x 15m) or larger

💧 Existing fish-free ponds in need of restoration

📍 Sites within the Tunbridge Wells borough

Could your pond become a home for Great Crested Newts?
